The Language of Numbers and Colors
Numbers help us count, tell age, give phone numbers, talk about money, and tell time. Colors help us describe the beautiful world around us. Quantities tell us "how much" or "how many" of something we have!

Quantities - How Much? How Many?
MANY - A large number
- There are many students in the class.
- I have many books.
- She has many friends.
SOME - A moderate amount
- I have some money.
- There are some apples in the basket.
- She wants some water.
FEW - A small number
- I have a few friends. (positive - I have some)
- There are few people here. (negative - not many)
- She has a few toys.
LITTLE - A small amount
- I have a little time. (positive - I have some)
- There is little water left. (negative - not much)
- She needs a little help.
More Quantity Words
- All - everything/everyone: All students passed the test.
- Most - the majority: Most people like ice cream.
- Several - more than a few: I visited several countries.
- Enough - sufficient: I have enough money.
- Too many - excessive: There are too many people here.
- A lot of - many/much: She has a lot of friends.
- Plenty of - more than enough: We have plenty of time.
- No/None - zero: There is no milk left.
